Schedule

This program is offered on Saturdays from December 12, 2026, through March 20, 2027, weather and mountain operations permitting. A typical training day includes approximately five hours of daytime coaching plus a 30-minute lunch break.

Athletes may choose to travel and participate in selected EEYSL (Emerald Empire Youth Ski League) Saturday races throughout the season. Professional coach coverage at designated EEYSL events is included in program tuition. For EEYSL race participation, race entry fees and a current U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership are required separately and are not included in program tuition. To purchase or renew a U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership, please visit: (Member Registration Instructions).

Athletes who elect not to participate in an EEYSL race on a scheduled race weekend are not guaranteed alternative home training opportunities. Families are encouraged to enjoy recreational skiing together or consider a private lesson through Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard School to support continued skill development.

MSSRT does not offer make-up training days for missed sessions. Instead, the club offers multiple membership options designed to accommodate a variety of schedules, commitment levels, and athlete goals. Please visit (Membership Offerings) to review available program options.

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM – Lunch at Lodge 1

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM – Coaches available in Lodge 1 for parent questions and athlete feedback

Parent/Guardian Responsibility

Parents and guardians must remain accessible by phone throughout the training day and be available to arrange prompt athlete pickup if needed due to illness, injury, behavioral concerns, weather conditions, mountain operations, or other unforeseen circumstances.

All athletes enrolled in the FUNdamentals Program must be picked up in person by a parent or authorized guardian at the conclusion of training. Free-release is not available for this program.

Ability Requirements

The Mt. Spokane Ski Race Team is an alpine ski racing program. To participate safely and successfully, athletes must be able to independently manage their equipment and personal needs throughout the training day.

Athletes must be able to:

  • Put on and remove their skis and boots independently

  • Carry and manage their own equipment

  • Load, ride, and unload chairlifts independently

  • Ski while carrying and using poles

  • Follow coach instructions and remain with their training group

  • Ski in a controlled parallel stance on intermediate terrain

Athletes who are not yet able to meet these requirements may benefit from additional ski school instruction before joining the program. Families with questions regarding athlete readiness are encouraged to contact MSSRT prior to registration.

Equipment Requirements

One pair of carving skis is recommended for U8 and U10 athletes. Helmets, goggles, and ski poles are required for participation. Athletes should arrive each training day with properly fitted equipment that is in safe working condition and appropriate for current weather conditions.

MSSRT provides a high-quality team ski coat as part of program tuition on a two-year replacement cycle. Team coats are typically distributed at the beginning of the on-snow season. To ensure inclusion in the annual team coat order, registration should be completed by October 15. Availability and sizing cannot be guaranteed for registrations received after this date.

Volunteer Requirements

As a nonprofit, volunteer-supported organization, parent and family involvement is essential to delivering a high-quality experience for our athletes. Each family is required to complete a minimum of two volunteer days during MSSRT-hosted races, events, or fundraising activities throughout the season.

Volunteer opportunities may include race operations, timing support, course maintenance, registration, hospitality, event setup, fundraising activities, and other roles that help support athlete programming.

Families may select volunteer assignments through the MSSRT volunteer portal:
